Chicken to to lead Chipolopolo against Kenya

With only three weeks before Zambia plays Kenya in the Africa Cup qualifiers, all indications from the Football House are that Zesco United coach George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina will lead the Chipolopolo in the qualifier against the Harambe Stars.

FAZ Communications Manager Nkweto Tembwe this morning told Zambianfootball.co.zm that the FA has the fullest confidence in Lwandamina to do the the job in the interim.

“The Association has the fullest of confidence in the current coach and his technical staff. We are sure George Lwandamina will do the job as we await the appointment of a new coach,” Tembwe said at media briefing.

FAZ are keeping their cards up their sleeve on who the next Zambian coach is despite confirming that the person has already been identified.

“As the Football Association of Zambia we are ready to engage a new coach as soon as the go ahead is given by our greatest partner in football which is Government.

“The coach is identified and we are hopeful that we shall introduce him sooner rather than later,” Tembwe said.

Sports Minisiter Vincent Mwale last week said he wanted the new coach to be unveiled before the game game against Kenya.

Lwandamina’s first game in-charge of the Chipolopolo was in June when Zambia were held to a goalless draw at home against Guinea Bissau.

Zambia play Kenya on September 6th in Nairobi.

  1. The problem with faz is that they are not serious with what they are doing this is pathetic and useless.what go ahead do you want when government has alread made effort of sourcing funds this is rubbish

  2. Zambia may not qualify for afcon given what I saw against guinea bissau. Janza was a better coach than this man. We are in trouble. We should never have fired Janza and replace him with this guy. Janza should have been maintained till a suitable foreign candidate was found.

  3. With the current style of play under this coach, the best result zambia can get in Kenya is a draw nd it wil be very hard for the incoming coach to pick up the pieces.

  4. Zambia is very poor country, they can’t afford to pay for foreign coach, so everyone stop dreaming for world cup and Africa cup of nations. we can only run poor league we have

  5. Not the best thing to happen but it’s definately a wise decision. Time is of the essence here and a big fixture like the one coming up needs a coach who already knows the players; someone whose philosophy the players are already familiar with and able to execute. If George gets his team selection right I have all the confidence Zambia will collect maximum points in Kenya.

  6. we ar tired of the feck comments which u, Nkweto u ar posting, jst bring the coach, if Chicken lwandamina wll lead us, wll loss in east africa.

  7. I feel sorry for the Zambian National Team because the football association in Zambia being led by corrupt and incompetent individuals whose sole aim is to enrich themselves, with the major culprit being the FAZ president as he is the one who makes all the decisions. We could have had a coach by now. Just a couple of weeks ago, we were told that the coach would be announced soon”. Which hasn’t happened. Sometimes, I just feel like soccer fans organising themselves and going to remove the people at Football House by force. They are not doing anything there.

    • @Billy I thought Minister Mwale came out in the open and said they were waiting to hear from the corporate world who will be responsible for the coach’s renumeration. I agree it is very frustrating that two matches in the qualifiers we still don’t have a coach in place. I think the minister made a blunder by insinuating that we would have the coach before the Kenya match even though he was saying that in hope.

      • OK, I hear you @Paddy. Its the way we do things in Zambia that is frustrating. It’s better they don’t announce until when they are sure that the nitty gritty of things are all sorted out. Now I am thinking that we should have just let Honour Janza continue coaching the Boys while we are waiting for the new coach. I feel he was not doing bad, per say.

  8. Kwena bwafya kuti wafilwa ne fwa kulanda. We just have to accept the fact that we are a poor country and let us do with what we have. There are 2 ways about the coach situation, as I feel the corporate World are not willing to pump in their cause what do they get in return

Ba FAZ fyonse ni humanism, takwaba ifya nowdays

  9. Chechen must call all the best foreign based players if we are to win Kenya. Our problem is shooting at the goal. So gave a look st Rodger kola, mayuka, j. Mulenga, and KANGWA. Apart from this he must call kalaba, fwsyo, chusamba, lubambo, sunzu, mbola, kabaso, katebe, and Isaac chansa. Surely with these guys on the pitch Kenya will fall.

    • Rodger Kola is now on loan at Greek Club, Veria Football Club and the league in Greece is not yet on, so I doubt his form. Mayuka has no club at the moment, while Jacob Mulenga has been overlooked. The frontline is a source of concern and if we are not careful Kenya will beat us

      • As things stand at the moment, I’d still give Mayuka and Kola the benefit of the doubt and call them up even if it means starting them from the bench. I’d then use the Gabon friendly to check them out. And surely it wouldn’t be the worst decision to have Jacob back in the squad. We need goal scorers and not chaps who are trying to learn the trade.

  10. sinkala, kalaba, chongo, jacob, mbola, kangwa, lubambo, chisamba, fayo, katebe, singuluma, mwape musonda ,bonface mwape, mukuka, kola, sunzu, mweene, kondwani and danny munyau..a blind person can win with these stars

  11. lwandanina wil put chisamba, fwayo, lubambo musonda on bench and start with planks like patson daka and allan mukuka who cost us 2 points against guinea bissau.

  12. 3 points for the scotishman!!!, bobby williamson and his harambe stars!!! at nyayo stadium in nairobi. i dont trust lwandamina. usless coach.he cost us 2 points against guinea bissau, becoz of his poor tactics of the game.

  13. Ndeloleshafye. This Minister and Faz people. How do I get so excited and inform the nation at large before they even conclude issues about funds. The minister said “we have sourced the money and it’s up to faz to appoint a coach and then faz also come out and said we have found a coach and now we are waiting for our big partners GRZ to give us a go ahead.” what a mess of management we have on all levels of life in Zambia. Shame on the Minister, shame on Faz. How rich are these countries that they manage their football houses well Kenya, Congo, Uganda, Ghana etc? Is it not a matter of good management?

  14. Easy ba guy, george is a good coach this is not the first time he has coached our national team. This time he is very much aware of the team at hand, he will put up a good performance against Kenya. So far he is the best experienced local coach we have look at how Zesco is performing.

  15. With due respect Lwandamina, Recall Jacob Mulenga, Kola, Lubambo Musonda, Mayuka, Chisamba Lungu, Mwape Musonda, all TP Mazembe players, Mweene, Bornwell Mwape and some ZSL. @ Justice u saw it coming!
