Chansa, Mtonga on the bench in NorthEast United win

Zambian internationals Isaac Chansa and Kondwani Mtonga watched from the bench as their team NorthEast United beat Kerala 1 – 0 in the Hero Indian Super League.

Spanish striker Koke’s opportunistic first-half strike ensured a 1-0 win for the NorthEast FC against Sachin Tendulkar co-owned Kerala Blasters FC in the second match of the Hero Indian Super League, on Monday.

The former Marseille frontman struck at the stroke of the break in the 45th minute with a snap angular right-footer that beat former England custodian David James, manning the Blasters bar.

The India league has just kicked off with a lot of hype and will be in session for about 3 months.

Francis Kasonde is the other Zambian player in the Hero league.

  1. I think the indian league is play names from the archives for marketing purposes and im sure most of those grandies will burn out soon or break each other’s legs with those crude tackles. The passion is great though

  2. Ba Chris Katongo, can’t you just wait for few hours? What will his wife say because is the father of four. Is it because of frustrations that the coach does not give you game time?
you have costed the Chipolopolo over your girlfriend from Lusaka. What kind of captain are you! No wonder we are losing.

  3. Awe sure, warming benches in India, what is this, and some people are calling the come back of these two players, I absolutely says no,no,no,no lets give chance to lubambo & Kangwa.

  4. Yangu yangu…naba David James is still playing kanshi. The man is 44yrs old. Anyway, I can’t judge Chansa and Mtonga. This is their lively hood and by gosh if they are paying you well then keep doing what you have to do.

  5. Imwe, this is not even a real league. There are 8 teams and the season is only 2 months. With a month of playoffs. So basically the season runs for 3 months. Meaning these guys will be off for 9 months out of the year. Anyway, I’m sure people said the same thing about ba Freddy Mwila when he moved to the USA back in the 70’s. Bottom line is these guys can probably still play in the local league to stay fit and then go back to India for the 14 games and playoffs.
