CHAN team not yet paid winning bonuses

The Zambia national CHAN Team has not yet been paid their winning bonuses two weeks after beating Namibia to proceed in the qualifiers.

ZNBC reports today (Saturday) that the players have confirmed that they have not been paid their dues and they have not received any communication from FAZ despite being promised to be paid immediately after the match.

FAZ Treasurer Kelvin Mutafu has stated that the FA will issues a statement after an Executive Committee meeting on Thursday next week.

With the Nkoloma stadium having been packed to the rafters, it is estimated that FAZ made over K2,000,000.00 from gate takings but the players remain unpaid.

In October last year, FAZ failed to pay the National Women’s team their dues after they participated at the Africa Cup of Nations which led to a standoff between the FA and the players with the eventual disbanding of the whole team.

Zambia qualified to the second round or the CHAN qualifiers with a nail biting 6 – 5 penalty win over Namibia after the two teams had played to a 3 – 3 aggregate draw.

  1. This is what angers me… imagine if these chaps at football house didn’t get any money for occupying those offices at football house…. who would remain there?.. No one cause they are all after money but here is a poor footballer whose job description is to play soccer & after playing & delivering the results two weeks later he is still waiting for his pay…. one might argue & say the money from national duty is not enough compared to what they get at club level but hey… this is Zambia every Ngwee is just as important as any other so please ba FAZ let us learn to respect players twapapata

  2. REPORTERS: Stop these money things, look what you did you guys reporting over girls. Now they are nothing. Don’t with careers of football players, they may not mind to be paid at christmas.

    • @ Nostra the reporting is not meant to tarnish anybody’s image or career but to provide checks & balances. Let’s not forget that football is a job & this is what puts food on these players’ tables moreover this is Zambia players don’t earn much so they need every coin or ngwee they can get to survive besides they won & delivered they fulfilled their part of the bargain FAZ should own up & pay….. let’s not just look at soccer players as just that but as human beings with responsibility too

    • @ chindika popeye nguni they won… they did their part or be it the hard way but the fact is they delivered & as such they should be paid

  3. We appricate the job the current football administrators have done but they also need to appricate the seriousness these boyz put in to win games so ba faz pay the boys and next time find a better venue to host international games

  4. Yes the boys they need to be paid but this bunch of rotten legs they failed in sa where the money there.. They shud not complain.. Faz has the right to priorities on useful on the expense of this disappointing team..

  5. How do you even go on to report about half baked truths? How much is the winning bonus and which audit books say they made over K2 million in gate takings? Do you know how many people enter for free at our stadiums? Lousy and lazy journalism, if you ask me!
