Chambeshi appointed new Konkola Blades head coach

Konkola Blades FC has officially announced the appointment of former Nkana FC head coach, Beston Chambeshi as their new head coach.

As earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew, Chambeshi is back in the MTN Super League

Chambeshi has been without a job since late August after being sent on administrative leave by his beloved Nkana following a string of poor results.

He has been tasked to turn around the fortunes of the club by the end of the 2023/23 season.

“Konkola Blades Football Club (KDFC) is pleased to confirm the addition of veteran coach Beston Chambeshi to the technical team to take charge as head coach starting immediately.

Chambeshi who comes to the club as a new face to the Community of Chililabombwe, has been tasked to turn the fortunes of the club around up to the end of the season.”

The club has maintained the other coaches with Enos Silwimba dropping to first assistant coach while Lewingtone Mujembe and John Munkonje will be second assistants.

Chambeshi is confident the team can move to a good position on the league table.

“We all know the team suffered a bit of some setbacks in the previous games, but working with same mind and as a unit we will definitely achieve our desired results. We will definitely get into the right position in the league.”

Chambeshi in 2017 led the Zambia U-20 National Team to a maiden AFCON title and went to reach the quarter finals of the World Cup later that year.

Chambeshi was Chipolopolo caretaker coach between May 2018 and July 2018 before returning to the helm of the Chipolopolo between July 2021 and December 2022.

The 63 year old has also previously coached Power Dynamos, Zambia U23 National Team, Kansanshi Dynamos among others.
