Chipolopolo Boys midfielder Miguel Chaiwa says he is happy and excited to have arrived at Easter Road after completing his switch from BSC Young Boys.
The 21-year-old midfielder has penned a three year deal with the Scottish Premiership side Hibernian FC with the option to extend for a further year.
Speaking to HibsTV, Chaiwa expressed his delight at joining up with the Hibees as the new campaign gets under way.
“I’m really, really happy to be here. Looking at how they welcome me, it’s been more like a family welcome. So I’m really, really happy and excited to be here,” Chaiwa said.
“I believe in every life, in football, there is always a new chapter. So I decided to carry on in a new chapter, and in a new environment for me.”
Chaiwa arrives in Leith with some UEFA Champions League experience against a Scottish side Celtic giving him insight into what to expect in the league.
“From what I’ve experienced so far, [I expect it to be] intense, with more duels. It’s going to be exciting for me,” he said.
“For me, I might describe myself as more of a box-to-box player.”
“I’m creative, able to eliminate players and full of energy – and not scared to go into duels. That’s me,” he added.
The former Atletico Lusaka player is eager to get down to work and prove himself to head coach David Gray.
“I’m really, really excited to play and to be with the squad. I can’t wait for it. And if the coach gives me a chance, I have to prove it.”
Chaiwa joined BSC Young Boys in the summer of 2022 and worked his way into their First Team set-up, going onto make 31 appearances in all competitions.
Chaiwa has on the international scene made 11 appearances for Chipolopolo.
