Cameroon join Morocco for Renard’s signature

Former Chipolopolo Boys coach Herve Renard is being courted by Cameroon, Gabon and Morocco with the latter being the front runners, Zambianfootball,co.zm can reveal

Though there’s a widespread feeling that the two times African Cup of Nations winning coach is heading to Morocco, the ZamFoot Crew can confirm that it isn’t the case.

“He hasn’t yet signed with Morocco,” a source close to the Frenchman revealed  to the ZamFoot Crew  on Wednesday

In January 2016, Cameroon also showed interest in hiring the flamboyant Frenchman who won AFCON titles with Zambia and Ivory Coast.

“Cameroon has made contact with his advisors and they haven’t given up on luring him to Younde. They feel he is the man who can steer the Indomitable Lions,” a source said in January when the Morocco link first appeared in North Africa.

Gabon who recently sacked their coach are also expected to enter the race to sign him as they rate him highly while Egyptian giants Zamalek who sacked  Mido on Tuesday night are also expected to make a second approach to him since he left French Ligue 1 side late last year.

There’s also a question of Renard being linked with the Chipolopolo job as usual. He is free while FAZ have been diplomatic with regards to offering interim coach George Lwandamina a contract.

  1. Hahahaha you gotta be kidding me. Why always Herve Renard? Are we so desperate that this is the only man to coach zambia. Let’s be serious there are so many qualified professionals in europe who can coach us. Let’s move on please.

  2. For Nations Cup, you have a good chance with Herve Renard because he is a tournament coach. Je doesnt mind drawing every game to reach the finals. His prior motive is not to be beaten. But any team who gets Renard as their coach should forget about the world cup because Herve is no a league or gala system coach. He just doesn’t have that flair to take games by the scrap of the neck. He would het the results against the big teams and loose against the small teams. Go for him if u need the nations cup but your world cup is at risk.

  3. HR back on familiar turf. Claude Le Roy, Ted Dimitru, Philippe Troussier formerly with CIV, Chiefs, Bafana, Japan, recently in Morocco where he has even converted to Islam)..all these basungu are only good for Africa. Welcome back, HR…your home is here in mother Africa
