Zambian Champions, Red Arrows have left for Angola ahead of the return leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The Airmen left for Luanda this morning from the ZAF Lusaka Airport aboard a ZAF flight.
The Airmen suffered a 1-0 defeat to Primero de Agosto in the first leg at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium last Saturday.
Agosto midfielder Ambrosini Salvador scored a long range strike from 25 yards in the fourth minute to earn his side a vital away win.
Arrows head coach Chisi Mbewe says his team has prepared well for the huge task ahead and just have to go and fight in Angola.
“The team is ready, We have prepared well for the return leg but we know that we are still in contention and we know the task ahead. We just have to go to the Angola fight and qualify for the next round,” Mbewe said.
“For us to qualify we need to attack, score goals, and at the same time also keep a clean sheet. The most important thing is the first goal and then moving from there and being able to qualify.”
Chisi will bank on the experience of James Chamanga, the prowess of Ricky Banda, Joseph Phiri and Conlyde Luchanga as well as the creativity of George Mandu, George Chaloba and Freddy Tshimenga to turn the Airmen’s fortunes around.
The Airmen and Agosto will square off on Sunday at the Estàdio da Cidadela at 17:00hrs Central African time.
