CAF CL and CAF CC: Moses Phiri assists, action for Clatous Chama, Kabaso Chongo, Ng’onga, And Kalaba

African continental action was back in action over the weekend and despite the fact that there are no Zambian clubs there is still Zambian interest. 

In the CAF Confederation Cup Zambian fans were keenly interested in TP Mazembe and Young Africans.

At the Stade Modibo Kèïta, Young Africans Sports Club (YANGA) played to a 1-1 draw away in Mali. 

Zambian forward Kennedy Musonda played the first 58 minutes of the match.

Fiston Mayele scored the goal for Young Africans while Emile Kone scored for Real Bamako. 

In Lubumbashi, Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga put in a full shift for TP Mazembe who suffered a 2-0 loss to Tunisian side Monastir. 

Kabaso Chongo out in a 67 minute shift, Rainford Kalaba was a second half substitute while Tandi Mwape was an unused substitute. 

The win keeps Monastir at the summit of the table while the Ravens drop to third place. 

In the CAF Champions League, Clatous Chota Chama and Moses Phiri were both in action. 

At the Mary’s Stadium-Kitende,  Moses Phiri assisted Henoc Inonga Baka for the only goal of the game as Simba SC edged Ugandan outfit Vipers SC. 

Clatous Chama put in a full shift. The win is Simba’s first in the competition and takes them to third on the log.
