Forest Rangers nay have been eliminated on the first hurdle and Nkana dropped to the CAF Confederation Cup but there is still a lot of Zambian interest in the CAF Champions League.
Following the draw conducted at the Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Friday afternoon, Group A through to C will be monitored by Zambian football fans as some of the teams of Zambian players on their books.
In Group A, Zambia is represented by midfielders Rally Bwalya and Clatous Chota Chama, who are on the books of Simba SC.
The Zambian duo will however have to work hard to help their club to progress to the next round as they come up against defending champions Al Ahly, AS Vita of Congo DR, and Al Merrikh.
In Group B, Zambia is represented by former Chipolopolo captain Rainford Kalaba and defenders Kabaso Chongo and Tandi Mwape who are all on the books of TP Mazembe.
The trio is not the only Zambian interest as the group also has Mamelodi Sundowns a team where Kennedy Mweene plays.
The other two teams in the group are Al Hilal and CR Belouizdad.
In Group C, Zambia will be cheering for Lazarus Kambole and his Kaizer Chiefs as they take on Horoya AC, Wydad Casablanca, and Athletico Petroleos.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
Group A: Al-Ahly, Simba SC, AS Vita, El-Merrikh
Group B: Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Hilal, CR Belouizdad, TP Mazembe
Group C: Horoya AC, Pedro Atletico, Kaizer Chiefs, Wydad Casablanca
Group D: Esperance, Zamalek, MC Alger, Teungueth
