CAF CC: Zanaco fall short in Tunisia

Stade Gabesien 3-0 Zanaco (Aggregate 4-1)

Zanaco were on Tuesday afternoon bundled out of the CAF Confederations Cup when they went down 3 – 0 to Stade Gabisien on Tunisia to lose 4 – 1 on aggregate.

Zanaco went in the game with odds stuck against them and the Tunisia did not waste time as they went ahead in the 23rd minute from a set piece.

Ahmed Hosni reacted first to an in-swinging cross into the box to beat a static Zanaco defense and head home from close range.

Needing at least a scoring draw to have a chance of qualifying Zanaco had their hopes shuttered 8 minutes later when Hamza Jlassi added a second for Gabisien when a defense splitting pass found him free on the left and he paced defender Aaron Katebe.

Coach Numba Mumamba tried to bring in Fashion Sakala for Rodrick Kabwe but things only went worse as they Tunisians added a third in the 67th minute through Hichaml Sifi who tapped from inside the 6 yard box after some lazy defending from Zanaco.

The result sees Zanaco drop out of Africa while Stade Gabisien proceed to the penultimate round of the group stage.

  1. Always failing to make it and some times going out in the 1st Round.

@Mambwe.Phiri you cant fault Aaron Katebe for the exit. If the guy is playing with average players around him there is nothing he do. Even if you brought any of these Sergio Ramos, Jerome Boateng or R.Ferdinard (in his prime)they would not have helped the situation baba. Average players the guys have summed it up.
