BURUNDI U-20 national team coach Joslin Bipfubusa has fired a salvo at their third round opponents, Zambia, in the 2019 U-20 Afcon qualifiers.
Eyebrows have been raised over the ages of the Burundi U-20 team after an image of it was leaked. The East African side has been alleged and trialed of age fraud by the court of public opinion in Zambia, a furore taken to social media.
But the Young Swallows Coach Bipfubusa asked if Zambia is just afraid of his side, because all his charges were of the right age. He was speaking in French exclusively to this publication in a phone interview from his domicile.
And Bipfubusa acknowledge that it won’t be an easy sailing for his side as Zambia had a very good team. But he was confident of booking a ticket to Niger where the tournament will be staged.
“There is no cheating. Is it that Zambia is just afraid of Burundi?”- he asked.
“Their [Burundi U-20 players] passport is standard. We took the time to make a good selection.
“Our team never changed this the same at the start of the playoffs against Ethiopia. If we eliminated Ethiopia and Sudan it is because our team is tactically strong.
“Ethiopia and Sudan were even playing good football. We will play to victory with the grace of God. I know very well that it’s not an easy match because Zambia has a good team.”
The two sides will in July cross-swords in a 2-legged tie for a place at the 2019 Afcon in Niger. The opening leg will be played in Zambia, with the definitive tie in Burundi after.
If qualified, the Junior Chipolopolo will defend their U-20 Afcon title which they won on home soil in 2017.

They are under 20 in dog years.
crocodile years i might add……
Don’t involve God when you know deep down your heart that those men are all over 25years,stupid cheats.
They look like Mandalas for sure. Not even one looks younger than 20 twenty?
let faz report them to caf for them to be scrutinized over the age.
Don’t panic these Fathers will fall!
If its those in the picture, they are young to be worried of. They look beatable. Let us not disturb the young ones. Football has no age many times. Remember we took under 20 for a decive world cup qualifier against Nigeria and the outcome was not that bad compared to the age those opponents. We will beat them home and away.
Boys do not listen to ba chamwenso….go go….even if they are above 40.
I have mentioned time and again that these guys from Burundi are madalas and FAZ must take up this issue seriously.
surely people caf should act on these fathers they are too big to be u20,they don’t even feel shy but they will fall.
