Zambia Under-20 striker Derrick Bulaya scored a brace to end Green Buffaloes’ unbeaten run as the log leaders suffered a 2-0 loss away at Independence Stadium in Choma while ZESCO United edged Buildcon in a five-goal thriller to claim bragging rights to the city of Ndola.
At Independence Stadium in Choma, log leaders Green Buffaloes made a trip to Choma hoping to maintain their unbeaten run and looking to extend their lead at the summit following Nkwazi’s 1-0 loss at the hands of Kabwe Warriors on Saturday.
It was the hosts however who struck first as Derrick Bulaya continued his fine form in front of goal netting the opener in the 21st minute from close range.
Bulaya completed his brace in the 83rd minute to seal only a second home win for Aggrey Chiyangi’s men.
The brace means the former Shamuel Academy player has now scored 5 goals so far in the league.
The win takes the Kawale Boys up to third on the log with 20 points, eight adrift of Green Buffaloes who lead the table.
At Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, ZESCO United claimed the bragging rights to the city of Ndola after they edged neighbors Buildcon in a five goal thriller.
Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba put the defending Champions in the lead in the 17th minute from a free kick before Samson Mkandawire could double the lead in the 27th minute of a beautiful strike.
Brian Mwila cut Zega Mambo’s lead in half with a goal from the penalty spot but Chitiya Mususu restored ZESCO’s lead at the death.
There was late drama as Patrick Ngoma headed home in the first minute of additional time to make sure it was a tense last few minutes at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
ZESCO United have now moved up to sixth place with 18 points while Buildcon drop to seventh place.
