COSAFA champions Green Buffaloes Women Football Club will find out their TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League group stage opponents on Friday, September 9.
According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the draw for the eight-team tournament will take place at 10h30 at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Rabat, Morocco.
“The participating teams to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League have responded to the new CAF Club Licensing criteria and they represent all the six zonal unions,” CAF said.
Buffaloes will be taking part in their first TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League finals after they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 6-5 on penalties in the COSAFA Women’s Champions League final.
Eight teams will participate in the tournament scheduled from 31 October 2022 to 13 November 2022 in Morocco.
Apart from Green Buffaloes, host club AS FAR of Morocco, WAFU A Champions Determine Girls FC of Liberia, CECAFA Champions Simba Queens FC of Tanzania and WAFU B Champions Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria will be in the draw on Friday.
CAF Women’s Champions League title holders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Egyptian side Wadi Degla FC, who were crowned UNAF Champions will be in the draw alongside a UNIFFAC representative who will be revealed after the conclusion of the zonal tournament set to take place from 10-16 September 2022 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
