Buffaloes gore Nkana in five goal thriller

Green Buffaloes despatched a fierce challenge from Nkana FC at Heroes Stadium in a five goal thriller that saw three goals scored in a space of 10 minutes.

Nkana looked comfortable knocking the ball around but it was Green Buffaloes who went into the break ahead when Brian Mwila pounced on a long ball from Adrian Chama in defense to poke the ball past an on-rushing Kelvin Malunga in the 45th minute.

2016 league top scorer Walter Bwalya announced that he was back after serving a three game suspension with an excellent free kick tucked into the up left angle of Davy Kaumbwa who hardly moved in the 77th minute a few minutes after Diamond Chikwekwe had failed to convert from a chance on the counter attack which saw him go one on one with the goalkeeper.

The Army boys were not relenting and they went ahead again in the 86th minute when skipper on the day Adrian Chama reacted first to a rebound to score with an easy tap in.

This was after Mapulanga spilled a long range free kick into the path of the defender who netted his second of the season.

It looked like the two teams would share spoils when Ronald Kampamba pounced on a poor defensive clearance to make an intelligent finish from inside the box in the 89th minute to make it 2 – 2.

There was one more twist to the game when Diamond Chikwekwe turned in the box to square the ball for Happy Kaunda on the far post and the striker managed to squeeze the ball in at the near the post in the third minute of injury time.

The result marks a very poor start to the league by Nkana as they are expected to drop below 12th position at the end of round five of games as they have collected only five points from five games.

Buffaloes move to seven points.
