Green Buffaloes 2 – 0 Red Arrows (Maylan Mulenga, Recheal Nachula)
Green Buffaloes Women Football Club has edged Red Arrows Women Football Club 2-nil in the second of the two semi-final matches played at Arakan Barracks Ground to set up a mouthwatering clash against Yasa Queens in the 2020 FAZ Lusaka Provincial Womens Football Tournament Final.
Two quick late goals from Zambian Under-20 and Senior National Team strikers Maylan Mulenga and Racheal Nachula respectively were enough for Green Buffaloes to condemn Red Arrows to a painful 2-nil loss in a game the Air Women would have felt they could have done better as they were a better side going forward but were poor in the final third and that costed them as they failed to find the back of the net.
It was a cagey affair in both halves and it was a winner takes it all as the two teams searched for goals which proved futile as they continued sharing the spoils.
Just when everyone thought the game was headed for penalty shootouts Green Buffaloes’ skillful Midfielder Mary Mwakapila suddenly rose to the occasion in the closing stages of the match and it was from that point when she managed to assist Maylan Mulenga with the first goal before Recheal Nachula pounced on the defensive lapse in the Arrows box to make it 2-nil as and the Zambia Airforce sponsored side failed to come back into the game with the likes of Hellen Mubanga and skipper of the side Prisca Chilufya given no chance upfront for Arrows.
The final score was 2-nil in favor of Buffaloes.
The Zambia Army led team will now battle with Yasa in the final who had earlier edged Nkwazi Queens 3-1 in the first semi-final match at the same venue.
The date for the final will be announced in due course.
