Buffaloes back home after disappointing outing at COSAFA

Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club are back from Malawi following their early elimination from the CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifiers.

The Zambian Champions were dumped out of the competition in the group stage after losing two of their three games.

They started the competition on a good note with a 1-0 win over University of Western Cape (UWC) thanks to a Natasha Nanyangwe late header.

The Zambia sponsored outfit then capitulated in the second and third games losing to Herentals Queens and Ongos 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.

The 2022 Champions will now shift their focus to the local league.

The elimination of Buffaloes means the regional showpiece will now have a new winner.

  1. This actually is a waste of scarce resources by FAZ and must not be done again , because apart from 5 new names in the rest team, the others are well known premier league players! So wasting so much time and money only to end with players from Mufulira Wanderers, Mutondo stars etc whom we have been watching every weekend. FAZ should just be encouraging it’s teams to be going to rural areas to search for new talent, and hence that talent will be exposed to FAZ! That’s how it was done before! Green Buffaloes used to go to North-Western and Western provinces and hence “discovered” the Francis Kajiyas and Luke Chikwamas in the 1970s! Zesco United can also be doing the same instead of going hunting in Cameroon and Kenya! Free advice to Mr. Ruben Kamanga! For foreigners who will never play for Zambia, but just bringing down playing standards in the country!
