Zambia Women’s national team head coach Bruce Mwape says he is targeting victory in the first game of the 2020 COSAFA Women’s Championship.
Zambia will face Lesotho this afternoon at the Wolfson Stadium and are hoping to keep a clean sheet as they look to have a good start to their campaign.
“Training today went well, we are remaining with the Afternoon session, there after we will be able to announce the first Eleven at that moment,” Mwape said after a morning training session on Tuesday.
“I don’t think there are any gaps we need to work on, we just have to look at the plan for Lesotho, although we have seen them play you know how football is maybe they could be a few changes in their team in terms of the formation of there team they could be using other tactics but we are ready for them.”
“We will try by all means to be cautious in the first 20 minutes of the game because we don’t want to allow a goal. What we want Is when we score we score to win not to draw, thereafter we will play an open game looking at the way they will play and the target is to carry the day and get a win,” he added.
The Copper Queens will square off with Lesotho in their opening game of the Competition at 12:30hrs at Wolfson Stadium.
The 2019 runners up will wrap up Group B on Monday at the same venue against the Scorchers of Malawi at 12:30hrs in what looks to be the group decider on who progresses to the semi-finals of the tournament which will run from 3rd up to 14th November 2020.
