Copper Queens head coach Bruce Mwape says he is disappointed with the result following Zambia’s loss to South Korea.
The COSAFA Champions gave away a 2-1 lead to lose 5-2 in the first of two international friendly matches set for the April FIFA Women’s window.
Mwape believes his side gave away easy goals and could have done better especially in the second half.
“I am not impressed, I am very disappointed that it was supposed to be our game. If you look at how we started, we did well despite giving away an early goal but we came back and we equalised and started leading,” Mwape told the ZamFoot Crew.
“In the second half we allowed four goals which means we did not defend well.”
Lushomo Mweemba was knocked out of the trip due to injury while Margaret Belemu was excused to complete her switch to China and Mwape feels the absence of the duo had a bearing on the way the team failed to defend.
“I think the absence of some of the key players like Lushomo Mweemba and Margaret Belemu affected the way our back four was supposed to defend. The four goals were as a result of our mistakes. We just gave it away,” he said.
“If we defend well we carry the day on Tuesday. We will try and work in defending before our last game.”
Captain of the side Barbra Banda attributed the loss to errors made by the team and feels they have picked lessons that will be valuable ahead of Tuesday’s rematch.
“We started very well but we just made some errors that we need to work on as a team because in whatever we do we have to do as a team,” Banda said.
“I think the coach is able to look at them. I think we need to do our level best in our next game. Anything is possible in Football, This was our first time playing them so now we have an idea how they play and what we should work on.”
Meanwhile Spain based striker Rachel Kundananji wants the team to work on how they defend.
“I think we should work on defending because in attack we tried to do our best but made mistakes in defence,” she said.
The Copper Queens were handed a humiliating 5-2 defeat despite going to the break with a 2-1 lead.
A brace each from Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Cho So-Hyun and Brighton and Hove Albion forward Lee Geummin gave the Asian Tigers a comfortable 5-2 win.

This guy needs help. While he has down a great job with the lady’s team. I think he is very limited with his technical acumen. He relies more on the player’s talent than having clearly defined tactics or a system. The sooner FAZ gets him help in form of well seasoned technical assistant,, the better, otherwise we will be thoroughly embarrassed at the world cup.
Spot on @Logic, that Korean team in terms of strength and talent they can not match Shepolopolo but our Ladies had no tactical acumen, nothing at all! It’s like an injured Usain Bolt against Justin Gutlin at the end of the day Justin will be a Victor with much praises and ulullations.
I agree with you let FAZ get him some Professional tacticians to help him with in-depth analyses.
The man himself is a disappointment!!!
It’s a lesson to pick… We can’t depend so much on individuals presence …we are a team ..let’s use whatever is available on the ground… Strategy is key to success… Names should not matter … We had the second half to improve the team but that didn’t not work … Whether belemu or not we are a national team… Ba coach be strategic… A carpenter who blames or condemns his tools has never made any successful art… It’s a wake up call…
The technical bench is not helpful in any way. The Korean have everything to do with the Administration in soccer. The Government Officials and the female support officials. Their team TV shows support for helping them to read their opponents style of movement and system of ground covering. We Zambian nil. Otherwise we will be there for window shopping only.
