Zesco United striker Jesse Jackson Were is excited about breaking the South African jinx. The Zambian Champions were eliminated in CAF competitions by South African opponents twice since 2016.
They however managed to beat Kaizer Chiefs home and away to qualify to the group stage and finally breaking the South African jinx.
“The win was good. We did our best. We did what the coach told us, We had a good formation and we applied it on the pitch. It’s good to win in South Africa and breaking the jinx but now the focus is on the group stage,” he said.
Heading into the group stage the Kenyan talisman has revealed that Zesco United are targeting to win the group and progressing to the quarter finals.
“We want to win the group and qualify to the quarter finals,” he said.
Zesco United beat Kaizer Chiefs by 2-1 on Saturday at the FNB Stadium thanks to strikes from Anthony Akumu and Jesse Jackson Were to complete a 5-2 aggregate win.
