Red Arrows football club enters week 9 as log leaders and will attempt to maintain that position at the end of the week.
Speaking during a Media interview ahead of the Konkola Blades match, Coach Chisi Mbewe said that there is no room for complacency and that they will tackle each game at a time.
“The preparation has been going so well. There is a lot of competition in the team, and going to Chililabombwe, it’s not going to be an easy game playing a team that is fighting to find ways to win. The players are ready for this encounter and our target is to maximise the points,” he said.
“The way Konkola Blades are playing and where they are standing on the log are two different narrations. It is a team that has got experienced players and also playing good football just yet to find a winning formula. It is going to be a tricky encounter but the main thing for us is to just stay focused and be able to maximise,” added Chisi Mbewe.
Red Arrows have won their last three league games and Chisi Mbewe believes his team is on the right track.
“We have set goals and targets as a team, and for us to achieve those targets, we have to ensure that we are consistent in winning games. We reminded the players to stay focused and be positive so that we can continue winning games,” the Arrows Coach further said.
Following a 4-0 victory over Nkwazi, Chisi Mbewe is not overwhelmed but has cautioned his players not to get carried away.
“The most important thing is that we don’t need to be complacent. We don’t need to be carried away with the previous result because that is water under the bridge. It is a new chapter that we are opening , the most important thing is that we continue were we ended against Nkwazi last weekend”
Coach Chisi also provided an injury report.
“Twiza Chaibela is still out mending, but we are pleased with the rate at which he is recovering. James Chamanga is sick but recovering well from fever. Ruddy Makwekwe’s knee injury has taken him into surgery other than that, it is all well” observed the Head Coach.
“We had a chance to watch Konkola Blades when they played Zanaco last week. We saw their strongest and weak points so we know how to go about the game,” Chisi said.
The last time Red Arrows visited Chililabombwe, the game against Blades ended 1-1 with a James Chamanga goal from the penalty spot to help the Airmen earn a point away from home.
