Konkola Blades scored a late injury time goal to secure a point away against Red Arrows in a game which saw veteran striker Francis Kombe score his third goal in three games.
Blades were the first to settle and pushed the hosts in the opening exchanges but it was Kombe who was the first to hit the target with a shot from outside the box which was saved by the keeper at full stretch.
Arrows were however dealt a heavy blow in the first 10 minutes when hard working midfielder Francis Simwanza was stretchered off after a crude tackle from Blades captain Mcduff Chungu who earned himself a yellow.
Blades dominated play in the midfield with Bob Chansa standing out in the holding midfield role but a quick counter attack saw Joseph Zimba released on the right to whip a teasing cross which was met by Kombe with a diving header which placed the ball beyond the reach of the blades goalie.
Kombe was again close to doubling the scores for Arrows in the second half after he cut in from the left to shoot but this time the goalkeeper was equal to the task as he parried for a corner.
Blades were unlucky when a well taken shot from outside the box by Chungu passed a host of bodies to beat goalkeeper Danny Munyao only for the referee to call for an offside.
With two minutes of the referee’s optional time played, Masauso Zimba ventured forward from the left flank and managed to find Happy Kaunda in the box who slotted the ball past an advancing Munyau from an acute angle.
