Be patient with us as you would be with a foreign coach – Janza

The Zambia national team has left for Ethiopia were they will play that country in an international friendly with coach Honor Janza making a call for the team to be supported to win.

Janza said he is working on mending the challenges the team has had since winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and appealed to people to be patient with him like they are patient with the expatriates.

“We are trying to build for the future. Who doesn’t know the sickness of this country? In 2013 that’s when the disease was shown, we are trying to mend these things, we are trying to make a lot of preparations,” Janza said.

“So people must be patient. The way we are patient with foreign coaches so we should be with our own,” he said.

Janza added that he is ready to hand-over if a new coach is appointed.

“I am not a person who will say I want to hold on to this position. If someone has found a coach and they have the money why not hire [the coach], I will hand over smoothly.”

“People should not just talk in the media but they should support us to win,” he concluded.

The Chipolopolo had a morning training session and flew out in the afternoon for the game to be played on Sunday.

They will fly straight to Ndola when they return on Monday.

    • Patient to a foreign coach is same as saying be patient to Mayuka, as you can be patient to Jackson Mwanza. Game is just 90 minutes, or for Janza it is 1hr:30 minutes. Traveling from Lusaka to Kabwe, and game is over. Why be patient in football? Delaying tactics you get RED card, Janza got too many yellow cards.

  1. Nothing personal with Janza but as a Zambian I’m sick and tired of this “We’re building for the future” syndrome. It’s a cancer that needs uprooting from the system. It’s a lame excuse used by those who know they’re not up to the task. And this applies to faz too. It is absolutely criminal for a country with Zambia’s reputation NOT to have a proper chain system where there is a constant flow of quality players waiting in the wings and ready when called upon. This is why strategic planning and management are so crucial for any organisation to get long term success.

Rather embarrassing that after all these years we’re still busy preparing to fail by failing to prepare.

  2. This guy never cease to amaze me,how did he even get all those Uefa class what ever what ever if he has challenges of expressing himself in English,I am lvery positive he means totally different with what he says. From learning from stupid footballing countries like Malawi and Namibia now to being patience ,this clown is just taking us for a ride.We are such a big footballing National to be subjected to sure rubbish for so long and we are busy blaming the players and yet even both the coach and the Administration is pathetic. It is only here were a soldier at war goes to attend his marriage blessing, were players in serious leagues are over looked for those in small ones.Honetly, one has to bring this comedy to an end because no one is interested anymore ,or there will be drama at Levy should the unthinkable happens.

    • I think Mr Discipline you have a problem with emotion because you seem to live in the past.I respect your great love for Chipolopolo, but you have to understand that football is changing. It’s not only about the coach but also the material the coach uses.

The teams(Malawi and Namibia) you are demeaning are also ambitious and are on the rise to ascendancy. Are you telling me that with the players Zambia has at present, even if you hire either Jose Mourinho or Sir Alex Ferguson, your team would win the world cup or even Africa cup in 2017? This generation of current crop of Zambian players are no better than Malawian or Namibian players.Matter of fact,Malawi has several players plying their trade abroad including Greece,Germany,Sweden,Portugal,USA,South Africa,DRC Congo, and Vietnam. In Greece,Malawi has Tawonga Chimodzi,a very versatile midfielder,in Germany, the Flames have Dan Chitsulo,a prolific striker,in Sweden,Malawi has Russell Mwafulirwa a towering striker,in Portugal, the country has Chawanangwa Kaonga ,a very skillful striker. The Flames have Tamika Mkandawire in USA who played for sometime for West Bromwich Albion,Hereford United, and Millwall before trekking to USA.There are so many Malawian players in RSA in both PSL and lower division. In Vietnam, the Flames have a robust striker cum midfielder in Victor Nyirenda. The South African based striker Esau Kanyenda, even at age 31 after having played for Rostov and Locomotive Moscow in Russia, can not be compared to any Zambian striker at present-he is still as deadly as ever.

There is talent in the land of the sunshine and you better watch out for this edition of the Africa cup.Don’t just blame your coach,he is human like you and me and needs time to blend your team.

      • No Ba Bibo, we have most of the golden 2012 team players, apart from Katongo brothers, Chansa, H.H the most notable players, we have a problem that FAZ should be in the right position to give us answers to.

      • Mr Bibo point of correction on some of the malawian players. Dan Chitsulo now plays social football in German just to keep fit (only reason he’s in German is coz he’s married there). He last played for Malawi around 2000 or 2001. Russell Mwafulirwa is also no longer a player. After Sweeden he had an unsuccessful stint in RSA before heading back to Malawi. But yes Esau is still playing.

You’re right though Zambia must not demean other nations because they’re not as bad as we believe. The gap is no longer as big as it used to be.

      • @Bibo! I agree with you 100%. We don’t have players to talk of! There is no nursery in Zambia! Nurseries died with ZCCM.

  3. We don’t want to see you near our National Team If a new coach is recruited. You should be sidelined completely!

  4. I see janza has point, why do Zambia cant afford to appoint a new coach, seems Zambia is very poor country. and they have no money,. maybe all the cash is going to kalu. we don’t need president we need a coach. fire kalusha and hire new coach

  5. One problem at a time . Lets fire janza first . Kalusha is the only who can take Zambia forward . All qualified to all competition which i believe its the most important thing . We failed to do well due to lack of proper funding . Period . I am the only who do appreciate what kalu is doing. Staying in south Africa it does not affect faz operations . Faz is not runned like selling in a tuck shop. Kalu during his days was a world class payer . There he has certain standard to maintain .

  6. Here’s why I don’t believe Janza anymore. When he took over the team, I supported Janza because he was brave enough to eliminate the sacred cow syndrome that had been created by the 2012 afcon win. Players despite under performing or being clubless were somehow able to walk into starting lineup like Felix Katongo based on past glory. I also thought, this man is the most qualified because of his licence training with UEFA B badges and he has been an understudy to HR, and Bonetti, also a tournament winning U20 coach.

When Zambia was losing at the beginning…i.e. to Cape Verde amid chaotic travel arrangements, I blamed the logistics. Then I thought I was right in supporting Janza because he turned Zambia around during these qualifiers. Then come AFCON and I finally got to watch my beloved Zambia on tv. First I was already upset that FAZ had gone for the hattrick in shoddy travel arrangements and the team only arrived in Eq Guinea within 48 hrs of kickoff. It was then that I saw why Janza would not succeed. The team was disjointed, seemed sluggish, players were not in harmony…the equalizing goal from Tunisia, players looked like they were blaming eachother instead of getting to work. The biggest sign that this was not the man for the job was Janza ‘ s inability to adjust or read the games. The man is lacking. This team is neither motivated nor tactically proficient.

    • At first I thought I’m the one that posted this one as I was also a die-hard Janza supporter for getting rid of Dinosaurs (which I always shall stand for against my good friend Ba Amos Mumba who thinks we should have carried the dinosaurs who flopped at Afon 2013 and were on the verge of failing to qualify to Afcon 2015 until aaiche salvaged the qualifiers) bbut I think Janza has spoken himself out of my favour

      • Ba Uncle Bobs.I remember we spoke when he was appointed.I supported his appointment and felt he was the right person to carry on where HR had left.My argument on the dinosaurs however still remain the same. Looking at our last high profile friendly against Japan,I though Patrice had set the tone for him in as far as blending of new talent into the team was concerned. He rushed just like my Nkana team in doing away with valuable experience. His ability to balance the team with experience is so naive. His lack of disrespect for some senior players(charles Zulu over jacob Mulenga/Collins Mbesuma/Chris katongo on any day is total lack of respect) was his undoing because it created divisions in the dressing room (Typical of Zambian coaches). The uncoordinated play of the team despite some of his wins is npthing short of shameful for a team known for such history of colourful display.Above all,his tactical naivety has clearly been exposed.

  7. The Zambia National Soccer team has arrived safely in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Delegation Leader, Kelvin Mutafu has [email protected] a while ago that Chipolopolo have been booked at Capital Hotel.
Mutafu says the Chipolopolo were accorded “excellent” reception when they arrived.
Meanwhile Coach Honour Janza has informed @fazfootball.com that the team will tomorrow have one training session in the afternoon.
Zambia will on Sunday play the Ethiopian national soccer team in an international friendly at 17:00 hours Zambian time.
Janza will use this match to fine tune his lads ahead of the Gabon 2017 Afcon qualifier match against Guinea Bissau, slated for Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa stadium on Saturday June 6,2015. A week later Zambia travels to Namibia for the first leg CHAN qualifier match against that country’s national soccer team. The entire FAZ executive is not serious just from this post on there facebook page has seriously exposed them, they are confused may its because FIFA president is under investigations by the world police , the FBI ! FAZ don’t worry your time will come lol

  8. Janza has no strategy and is using overaged local players who will not benefit the country in the long run . Look at how the team is playing ,he cant even stick to our traditoonal Zambian football of good passing and holding the ball

  9. Even if you bring the Barcer Coach who won UEFA yesterday , with this current crop of players and FA, you would only qualify to AFCON and come out in first round. Janza is not a bad coach trust me.

  10. Janza is just the tail, the head and major problem is kalusha! Guys lets lobby the Attorney General of the USA to investigate kalu and impose a travel ban for his blatant theft and disregard for law! At least George Weah was honest in his request for school fees money from the Qatar bid whilst kalu requested for money for the development of Zambia youth soccer; that’s how confident kalu is in ripping of FAZ and the people of Zambia! He knows he can get away with it!
