Zambia will seek to bounce back when they take on their neighbours Zimbabwe in the ‘battle of Zambezi river’.
Zambia were handed a shock 2-0 defeat by Kenya in their opening game to make it three consecutive losses in all Competitions for the Copper Bullets.
Zimbabwe on the other hand are coming off an impressive 1-0 win over Comoros in their first game of the regional showpiece.
Meanwhile another defeat will see Chipolopolo out of contention for top spot in the pool, with only the leading team in each group earning a place in the semifinals along with the best placed runner-up across the three pools.
Zambia and Zimbabwe have a long and rich history of clashes against one another, including in the COSAFA Cup.
They have met nine times before in the competition, with Zimbabwe leading the head-to-head 4-2 and three matches drawn.
That includes five meetings in the final, four of which were won by Zimbabwe, with Zambia’s single success on home soil in 2013.
It has the potential to be a COSAFA Cup classic given what is at stake for both teams.
Chisi Mbewe could make changes to his starting eleven. Charles Kalumba is expected to maintain his place between the sticks.
Chitoshi Chinga , Kilian Kanguluma , John Chishimba and Brian Chilimina started in defense in the loss to Kenya but Chisi could shake things up with Mathews Chabala, Mathews Banda and Zachariah Chilongoshi all available for selection.
Dickson Chapa could replace the suspended Kelvin Kapumbu to join David Simukonda and Saddam Yussuf Phiri in midfield.
Upfront the trio of Fred Mulambia, Albert Kangwanda and Ricky Banda failed to tick and Mbewe could try and tinker around with the likes of Austin Muwowo, Abraham Siankombo and Andrew Phiri rearing to go.
Kick off at Wolfson Stadium is 15h00 and the match is expected to be live on Supersport Variety 4 and will be streamed live on FIFA+.
