Barbra Banda nominated for NWSL MVP 

Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda has been nominated for the National Women’s Soccer League Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after a stellar season with Orlando Pride. 

Banda has been nominated alongside teammate Marta, USA National Team duo Trinity Rodman and Sophia Smith of Washington Spirit and Portland Thorns FC respectively. 

The other nominee is Malawian forward Temwa Chawinga who finished the regular season as the top goalscorer with 20 goals. 

Banda took to social media to express excitement over the nomination. 

“Happy to have been nominated for the NWSL MVP alongside four other amazing talents including the great Marta.”

Banda netted 13 goals and set up six other goals in the regular season helping the Pride to a record setting season winning the NWSL shield with an unprecedented 60 points. 

Banda scored a brace in the NWSL playoff quarter finals leading Pride to the semis where they will face Temwa Chawinga’s Kansas City Current.
