Azam FC of Tanzania yesterday emerged winners of the international pre-season club tournament hosted by Zesco United.
Despite playing to a 0 – 0 draw with Zanaco on match day 3, Azam were top of the round robin group on goal difference ahead of Zanaco after finishing with five points.
In the the early kickoff, Zesco United on the final day of the tournament, hosts Zesco United bounced back from a 2 – 1 loss against Zanaco to beat Chicken Inn of Zimbabwe 2 – 0.
Red-hot Kenyan international Jesse Were scored the third goal in as many matches in the 46th minute after former Kabwe Warriors striker Idriss Mbombo had given Zesco the lead in the 30th minute.
Zesco United who were third with four points next week play AL Ghazala Wau FC of South Sudan in the CAF champions league at Levy stadium.
