Zesco United’s opponents in the first round of the CAF Champions league Asec Mimosas touched down at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe international Airport at 13:45 hrs yesterday ahead of Wednesday’s first leg encounter at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The Ivorians left Abidjan on Saturday at 21hrs and after a journey of close to 16hrs arrived in Zambia aboard a Kenyan Airways flight.
Meanwhile upon arrival at the airport, the coach of Asec Mimosas Amani Yao who was greeted by local media said that his side was a new team and believes the 2016 loss at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium will have little bearing on Wednesdays match.
” I was not here in 2016 and 2016 is not 2018. Both teams have probably chnaged alot and we are here to play for our chance,” he said.
Zesco United beat Asec Mimosas by three goals to one in 2016 at home when they were drawn in the same group of this same competition.
Mimosas at around 18:00hrs held their first training session in Zambia focussing on recovery and only lasted for about one hour.
We welcome ASEC Mimosas to Zambia in general, and Kopala in particular.
Feel at home brothers and sisters if there are any.
