Ambitious Mohamed Fathi targets back to back wins

Kansanshi Dynamos head coach Mohamed Fathi says his side is targeting winning their next two games in the MTN Super League. The Mabanga Boys have only managed one win this season, 1-0 against Nchanga Rangers in week 11.

Kansanshi will be away to Green Buffaloes on Saturday before visiting Kabwe Warriors at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium. Fathi wants his side to pick maximum points so as to prepare for the January AFCON break.

Fathi who took over from Zeddy Saileti was in charge of his first game last weekend, a goalless draw against FC MUZA at the Solwezi Independence Stadium. Fathi was happy with the way the team played, chances they created but wanted more from the game especially that his team was at home.

“It looks very good. We played very good football and created a lot of chances. But at the end of the day, it was a draw. I’m not happy with the draw, I want to win at home, and the players should also be hungry to win at home. We move forward and make our changes,” Fathi said.

“Most of them are adapting very fast. We changed the formation and the style of play, and so far so good. We’re trying to pick maximum points from the next two games before the break. That will help us prepare and make some changes in January,” he added.

The league is expected to go on recess after week 15 because of the Africa Cup of Nations and Fathi has welcomed the break as it will help his side restrategize ahead of the resumption.

Fathi will be in charge of his first away game as Kansanshi Dynamos head coach and visit Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka to face Aggrey Chiyangi and the Zambia army sponsored Green Buffaloes.

Buffaloes sit 13th with 17 points from 13 matches, while Kansanshi Dynamos are 16th with 10 points after 12 games played.

“It’s good for us and good for the players. It gives them time to rest, and it gives us time to make changes. CAF regulations say no league games during AFCON, and we all have to respect that. We’ll use the break wisely,” he said.

“I’ve always had good games against Green Buffaloes. If we put everything together, I think we’re going to have a good game. I trust my players, they will put in maximum effort to get a positive result.”

Kansanshi Dynamos have an upper hand in this fixture winning four of their last nine meetings with Green Buffaloes and losing just once in that same time.

Kick off at Edwin Imboela Stadium on Saturday is 15h00.
