Zanaco suffer another defeat in Confederations Cup

A Muetazballah Abousheenah injury time goal earned Libyan side Al Ahli a 3-2 victory over Zanaco at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium.

Having lost the previous three Group A CAF Confederations Cup matches, the bankers were playing for the nations pride.

Mohammed Fakih gave the visitors the lead from the spot kick in the 12th minute before Abraham Siakombo pulled one back.

With Al Ahli dominating play, Zanaco coach Kelvin Kaindu hooked off Isaac Shamujompa for Boyd Musonda and the team improved.

After the break, Fakih completed his brace from the spot in the 64th minute as Al Ahli led 2-1.

Siankombo turned provider for Moses Phiri to score an equaliser.

Substitute Tshite Mweshi could have given Zanaco the lead but missed from close range before Abousheenah stunned the home crowd with an injury time winner.

Al Ahli have gone on level with leaders Pyramids on 9 points while Zanaco are bottom of the group with no points.

Pyramids will be in action against CS Sfaxien later tonight.
