Zambian Women’s Football golden girl, and Africa’s finest female football player Barbra Banda has finally received her World 11 trophy from FIFPRO.
FIFPRO delivered the trophy to Banda and her Orlando Pride teammate, Brazilian legend Marta at their base in Orlando, Florida.
Banda became the first African player last year to be voted among the best in the World (FIFPRO World XI) chosen by her peers around the world (Professional football players).
Banda was named in the FIFPRO Women’s World XI following her remarkable year in which she guided Orlando Pride to the US National Women’s Soccer League Shield and Championship.
Banda scored 17 goals and made 7 assists in the all Competitions for the Pride and was named the NWSL Championship MVP after becoming the first player to score in all stages of the NWSL playoffs.
Banda was also named the BBC Women’s player of the year, CAF Women’s player of the year, voted 12th in the race for Ballon D’or and also came out second at FIFA Best Women’s player of the year awards.
The World 11 is the only global football award decided exclusively by professional footballers.
