The much anticipated Absa Cup Round of 16 is set to deliver a thrilling football weekend in the first weekend of April with matches scheduled to take place across three provinces in Zambia.
Kabwe will host Absa Cup matches for the first time in the tournament’s history to add to the excitement surrounding this year’s K6.5 million rich tournament.
The action kicks off on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe hosting a double-header featuring Solwezi Academy against Konkola Blades 12h30, followed by a ‘take me back to memory lane’ clash between Roan United and Nkana at 15h00.
Meanwhile, Railway Grounds in Kabwe will also come alive on the same day, with Kansanshi Dynamos taking on Green Buffaloes at 12h30 before Mpulungu Harbour battles defending champions Red Arrows at 15h00.
The excitement for the 18th edition of the tournament continues on Sunday, April 6, 2025, as Railway Grounds will once again be in action with Bart’s United facing ZESCO United in a lunchtime kick-off followed by a ‘power battle’ between Air Power and Power Dynamos at 15h00.
At Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Prison Leopards will take on Green Eagles in a service derby at lunchtime, before Makeni All Stars squares off against Kabwe Warriors at 15h00 in what promises to be an intense fixture.
The mix of established powerhouses and ambitious challengers in the Absa Cup Round of 16 promises to produce an exciting path to who walks home with the K1,000,000 winners’ prize money.
Runners-up will receive K400,000 and there is also a travel subsidy of K50,000 to all teams, though this may vary depending on teams playing from home and the distance covered to matches.
