ABSA Cup Quarterfinals: Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors Ready for Battle

Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors are set to clash in a thrilling ABSA Cup quarterfinal match this afternoon.

Despite their strong league form, Power Dynamos assistant coach Songwe Chalwe emphasized the importance of staying grounded and focusing on the cup game.

“We haven’t won anything yet this season, so the players need to humble themselves and do their part,” Chalwe said.

“Cup games are different from league matches; it’s about who wants it more.”

Meanwhile Power Dynamos midfielder Salulani Phiri says the team wants to reach the final.

“We know that they played in the final last season and we have prepared to beat one of the best teams. Our preparation is just to reach the finals,” he said.

Kabwe Warriors, finalists last year, are motivated to win silverware. Assistant coach Chintu Kampamba said, “We’ve prepared well, and we’re confident we can go far in the competition.”

“We acknowledge that Power is in good form but we are also prepared. A cup game comes in different ways; it is the energy that you bring,” he added.

Meanwhile captain Clement Mundia believes they have unfinished business with the ABSA Cup after losing in the final to Red Arrows last year.

“The plan tomorrow is just to go out there and enjoy the game. Moreover, we played in the final last season, so this time around we have to go full force so that we make sure we go back to the final,” he said.

The match kicks off at 15:00 hours at Nkoloma Stadium, with tickets available at Shoprite outlets via Computicket with open wing pegged at K30, K150 (grandstand) and K250 (VIP).
