National Heroes Stadium to host ABSA Cup final

The ABSA Cup final returns to the Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium after a three year absence.

The last ABSA Cup final at the 60,000 capacity seater was in 2019 when Nkana won it.

The 2017 edition when Zanaco needed Charles Zulu magic and extra time to beat Napsa Stars to win their first ever ABSA Cup after failing on three occasions in the past was also played there.

Record six time Champions, ZESCO United have been drawn against Super League side, Green Eagles in the 2022 edition of the ABSA Cup.

This follows draws conducted this morning at Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka.

Zambia Police sponsored outfit, Nkwazi will battle it out with Red Arrows while former Champions, Nkana, and Green Buffaloes play Lumwana Radiants and NAPSA Stars respectively.

The Quarter finals will take place on the weekend on 12th and 13th March, 2022 at Arthur Davies Stadium while the semifinals will take place at Nkoloma Stadium on April 2nd, 2022.

This years’ final will take place at the National Heroes Stadium on April 16th, 2022.

Meanwhile, ABSA Bank Zambia has announced a K4 million sponsorship package for the 2022 ABSA Cup from the K3.8 million pumped in last year.

The winners will walk away with K650 000 (from K600 000 won by Lusaka Dynamos last season) while runners up will get K300 000 compared to K250 000 for last season.

The man of the match will be walking away with K15,000 and teams participating in this year’s edition will be given a K20,000 travel grant.
