FC Leopards and Mines United will face off on Saturday afternoon at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium as they both look to record their first win of the season.
The Kabwe derby will pit two winless teams with FC Leopards feeling this is a big chance for them to get their first win of the season against a team that has only managed two points for far this season.
FC Leopards head coach Justin Chinama believes his side ‘should be able’ to collect maximum points this afternoon.
Chinama expects a tightly contested affair given that both teams have not won a game and this being a derby but says his side should be focused and burry their chances to get a win.
“Yeah, we are playing a local derby, week 9, and going into this game, both teams haven’t won any game, so it will be a tightly contested game, and normally local derbies are not easy games. So what is important is for us as FC Leopards to maintain our focus, and make sure we try the chances that we will create, turning them into goals. Otherwise, we are looking forward to this game, and we should be able to collect maximum points tomorrow,” he said.
“No, apart from our goalkeeper Jeff Lungu, who is steadily recovering. Otherwise, the rest of the team is intact and injury free.”
Chinama recently came out and said his side won’t be relegated despite being winless this season and that they will finish in the top eight.
After that statement the club also came out and gave Chinama and his technical bench a directive to start winning games.
FC Leopards have managed five points from eight games while Mines United have only managed two points so far this season.
A win for either side could signal a turnaround and a fresh start for their campaign as they both desperately need a win. Kick off at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium is set for 15h00.
