Log leaders Zanaco bounced back from their 2 – 1 defeat against Power Dynamos with an emphatic 6 – 1 win over Lusaka Dynamos to move to 52 points on the log in 22 games.
It was a good day at the office for the bankers despite going a man down as early as the 35th minute when captain of the side Ziyo Tembo was sent off.
The numerical disadvantage did not count for anything as they managed to come from a goal down with Richard Kasonde and Isaac Chansa helping themselves to a brace apiece after Aubrey Funga and Rodrick Kabwe had scored the first and second goals respectively.
With Green Eagles winning 3 – 1 away at Lumwana, the loss for Dynamos sees them drop back into the relegation zone.
Mwila Phiri, Tandi Mwape and Claude Bwalya who moved to Choma from Kabwe Warriors were on target for Eagles.
Second placed Nkana ensured that they dont lose sight of Zanaco when they beat visiting Lusaka Tigers 3 – 0.
Ronald Kampamba came off the bench to score his first goal for Nkana since his return to the club while Soutra Tshimenga and Jacob Mulenga scored a goal each.
Green Buffaloes soared to third position on the log with a vital 4 – 2 victory over Nchanga Rangers in a game which veteran striker Christopher Katongo was on target.
The victory saw Buffaloes take its points tally to 39 as they moved two points clear of Power Dynamos who play on Sunday and could reclaim third position even with a draw at Red Arrows.
Mufulira Wanderers drew 0-0 with Kabwe Warriors at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira.

gud for bankers, richard kasonde is a very gud box to box midfielder. These players they need a gud coach, who can polish them well kasonde, kabwe, charles ed othes
Good strike by Isaac Gattuso Chansa
Who is the best box to box locally say between paul Katema and zanaco Kabonso tho think the later is much better as a defensive midfielder
point of correction ,one of the scorers for Nkana fc against Lusaka tigers is the acquisition from Mufulira wanderers Jacob Ngulube NOT Jacob Mulenga as reported in the main story above.
If there was going to be any goal at Shinde stadium on Saturday 13th August between Wanderers and kabwe Warriors, it could have come from defender Warren Kunda who had two of the best chances in the first half and one more in the second 45minutes.
Of course the trademark Taonga Bwembya freekick on the edge of the penalty box almost broke the deadlock late in the game.
As usual Godfrey Ngwenya was a marvel to watch with his intelligent moves around the host’s defence.
The over-dependence on the Ghanian striker (who was out of action against Warriors) seems to continue to hit Mighty hard as they again could not find the back of the net.
sate is a goal scorer but cant replicate form at higher level
