68 minute shift for Lameck Banda in Lecce draw

Chipolopolo winger Lameck Banda put in an impressive 68 minute shift for UC Lecce who played to a 2-2 draw with Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Banda started his 17th match of the season as coach Marco Baroni named the Zambian international in an attacking trio alongside Gabriel Strefezza and Lorenzo Colombo.

Banda’s cross from the left wing where he was a menace found Morten Hjulmand who was fouled inside the box and Lecce should have taken the lead from the penalty spot midway through the first half but Gabriel Strefezza lashed his spot-kick wide.

Ciro Immobile then shot Lazio ahead in the 34th minute after collecting a typically neat through ball from Luis Alberto.

Oudin drilled in the leveller for the away side in first-half stoppage time before then volleying Lecce ahead in the 51st minute.

Lecce held out well until chaos in their box led to Milinkovic-Savic’s deflected leveller ending their hopes of taking a huge step towards safety.

The last three matches of the Serie A season will see Lameck Banda and Lecce host relegation threatened Spezia, make a trip to Monza before concluding the season at home against Bologna.
