Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) General Secretary, Reuben Kamanga says 50 percent of the FIFA Funded Stadia projects has been completed.
This follows the completion of works at the Solwezi Independence Stadium which is the second of the four earmarked for facelift.
Kamanga was speaking at a media interaction event on Wednesday evening in Lusaka.
“The FIFA Funded Stadia projects are now at 50 percent completion. The Solwezi Independence Stadium is now done. Chipata was done sometime back and next is the Kasama Stadium and the Kaole Stadium,” Kamanga said.
FIFA and FAZ are expected to hand over the stadium in the next few months.
The extensive renovation project, which commenced last year, absorbed approximately $300,000 in funding.
The extensive renovations included work on the pitch, dressing rooms, stands, and other critical areas the ZamFoot Crew understands.
The David Kaunda Stadium in Chipata was the first to undergo extensive renovation with FIFA Forward support and was handed over to Government in September.
Pitch, spectator areas, VIP seating and changing rooms were all been upgraded at the DK Stadium.
Two other projects, supported by FIFA Forward, are currently underway in Zambia, two of them involving the renovation of other stadiums (Kasama and Kaole) around the country while the fourth will see the refurbishment of the FAZ’s accommodation centre.
