2022 AWCON: Copper Queens through to quarter finals

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has confirmed the Copper Queens qualification to the quarter finals of the ongoing 2022 Morocco Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Copper Queens beat Tunisia on Wednesday evening to seal their place in the last eight of the biggest Women’s continental football fiesta.

CAF took to social to confirm Zambia’s qualification. Zambia have four points meaning they can end as one of the two best third placed sides even if they lost to Togo on Saturday.

Meanwhile earlier today the Copper Queens arrived in Morocco’s capital Rabat ahead of their 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final Group B match against Togo.

The team took a one-hour road trip from Casablanca.

The match against debutants Togo will take place on 9 July at the Stade Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan at 22h00CAT.

The WAFCON is being used as a qualifier to the 2023 New Zealand/Australia FIFA Women’s World Cup where the top four teams in Morocco will qualify for the event.

  1. They now need to watch the game between Morocco and Senegal closely…coz we will play the runner up if we top our group or we will play the group winner in SA and Nigeria’s group if we finish second
