The 2021/22 Zambian Super League season will end on May 7, the ZamFoot Crew understands.
And the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ are expected to release fixtures for the final round/week 34 matches early next week.
“Ideally the season will be stretched by a week. We recognise the fact that some teams will need to wait for 13 days to play their matches but this was the best possible solution available.
The season was earmarked to end on April 30, but that weekend has already been taken up by the Absa Cup final at Nkoloma Stadium.
The first option was to move the Absa Cup final to May 7 especially with the clash of events at Heroes Stadium but that proved to be more unrealistic with regards to other plus 1 logistics.
The other option was to play the final matches during midweek, May 4, but also this also was proving futile for administrative reasons.
“I can’t remember a league ending on Wednesday. It has to be a weekend. And remember FAZ and the league sponsors [MTN] need to prepare for coronation.
