Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga has confirmed that over 100 coaches have pushed in their applications to be the next Chipolopolo head coach.
The Chipolopolo Boys top job fell vacant after the departure of Croatian gaffer Aljosa Asanovic last month.
Kamanga who was speaking in his weekly update said the Association will not concentrate on the nationality of the next coach but focus on the competency of the said individual.
Kamanga went on to confirm that the committee that will be deliberating on the matter has started it’s sitting today.
“The search for the Chipolopolo coach is underway with over 100 applications received. The specially constituted committee to select the coach commences sitting today (Monday) comprising representation from FAZ, government and ZAFCA. The committee is expected to come up with a shortlist of candidates according to the criterion publicly provided,” Kamanga said.
“While the debate on whether FAZ should hire a local or foreign coach has persisted, it should be made clear that the focus should be on appointing a competent coach regardless of their nationality. We are mindful of the urgency of this matter, but we will also ensure that we are prudent in the manner we conduct this process. Transparency will be our guiding principle throughout the process.”
The Chipolopolo Boys top job was advertised last week with the UEFA Pro license set as the bar though the Association encouraged local coaches with National Team experience to apply.
In the meantime, Assistant coach Moses Sichone continues to sit in and will take charge when the Copper Bullets take on Israel on 17th November in an international friendly match.
The country needs a coach who will be with them for at least three to four years 🙄
Not all from 100 applicants are coaches.Some are just clowns,others are just time wasters still many could be finished coaches kkkk. Of course some could be play on.We wait and see.
