Indeni Football club and Young Green Eagles played out to a dramatic 1-1 draw as the visitors fought back from a goal down despite having a numerical disadvantage after two players were sent off in the second half.
Young Green Eagles welcomed Indeni this afternoon at Khosa Stadium with both teams looking for their first win in four games. It was the hosts who had a bright start as they controlled the proceedings and created several chances though they failed to convert any of the four good chances they had.
They however took the lead 15 minutes into the second half as Indeni brought down a Young Eagles striker inside the box, Referee Rodrick Ng’andu did not hesitate as he pointed to the spot, Andrew Phiri stepped up and sent the Indeni goalminder the wrong way, 1-0.
Indeni were reduced to ten men with 15 minutes left to play after veteran forward Graven Chitalu was given marching orders after receiving a second yellow card. Things turned from bad to worse for Indeni as they were further reduced to nine men with three minutes left on the clock as Clement ‘Jakuzi’ Mulenga received a direct red card.
The Oilo Men were however determined to get something out of the game and not even a numerical disadvantage was going to stop them as they scored at the death, Defender Moses Soko with a fine close-range finish after being found in acres of space inside the box, 1-1 the match ended.
Elsewhere, Red Arrows made it two wins in two games as they beat Buildcon 2-1 away at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Francis Simwanza put the Airmen in the lead in the 20th minute but the lead did not last as former Austrian based striker Brian Mwila leveled matters four minutes later.
2012 AFCON winner, James Chamanga however put the Airmen back in the lead in the 33rd minute with what proved to be a match-winner. The win takes Red Arrows to ninth place with 15 points and just 3 points adrift of a top-four spot.
In Solwezi, Felix Nyaende scored the only goal of the game as Lumwana Radiants beat Green Buffaloes to hand them their fourth defeat in five games. The win which is Tenant Chembo’s first since he took over as the Uranium Boys boss moves them to 15th place.
