The drama of the MTN Super League is back with another action packed weekend upon us.
The National Heroes Stadium will this weekend host a double header as Nkoloma Stadium is expected to be busy with Independence day celebration activities.
With that move NAPSA Stars will be looking to maintain their current form and having gathered a good following already in Matero, Mandevu and surrounding areas the double header is expected to have a nice turn out.
From the brilliant runs on the wings by the likes of Robin Siame, the trickery of Mpho Mathgakane, the experience of James Chamanga, the prowess of Lubinda Mundia and the brilliance of George Mandu, everything will be on display.
Red Arrows vs Nchanga Rangers
Defending Champions, Red Arrows will be involved in an early kick off as they host Nchanga Rangers at Heroes Stadium.
Robert Tembo’s men are winless in their last four games and will be hoping to return to winning ways.
However, they face a Red Arrows side that is beaming with confidence having won their last 3 three games and are unbeaten in their last 17 league games at home.
Arrows are expected to welcome Chisi Mbewe on the touchline fresh from winning gold with the Zambia U-20 National team at the COSAFA tournament.
The Airmen will be without striker Ricky Banda who is out nursing an injury while Nchanga Rangers will be without defender Mathews Chabala who is out on national duty with the Zambia U-23 National team.
NAPSA Stars vs Kabwe Warriors
The Pensioners will be looking to maintain their good current form as they welcome struggling Kabwe Warriors to their home National Heroes Stadium.
Perry Mutapa’s side have recorded three wins in their last five games while the visitors have three wins in their last 15 games.
Augustine Mulenga opened his goal account for NAPSA Stars in midweek with a brilliant solo goal but Mutapa believes he has a whole team to do the job.
“Augustine did very well, but of course as a team, everyone was great. The guys who were in front, Boster and Musonda did well also, they kept the ball and we had great passing and a lot of possession, so I don’t think we will only rely on Augustine, of course he brings the experience to the team, but as a team, everyone gives their best. We missed a lot of chances in the last match, but we were not scoring in the first matches and we believe our best is yet to come, so we just keep on pushing,” he said.
FC MUZA vs Forest Rangers
Forest Rangers unbeaten run will come under heavy scrutiny this weekend as they travel to Mazabuka to face FC MUZA.
The Ndola based outfit are yet to lose a game this season but Mazabuka is not a friendly place to visit.
Coach Ian Bakala will be banking on 2007 CAF young player of the year, Clifford Mulenga to guide his team to victory.
MUZA will be without their talisman Andrew Phiri who is out in Monrovia, Liberia on national duty.
Coach Lameck Banda will however have midfielder Kelvin Mwanza back from national duty after helping the Zambia U-20 national team win COSAFA and book a place at the Africa Cup of Nations.
ZESCO United vs Kansanshi Dynamos
Nine time Champions, ZESCO United will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Kansanshi Dynamos at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
ZESCO United were on Sunday eliminated from Africa’s second coveted competition by South African side Royal AM in a 1-1 draw played in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
Zega Mambo then suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of NAPSA Stars on Wednesday in a rescheduled week 7 encounter in Lusaka.
Alfred Lupiya and his charge will have to quickly get over their two losses as they welcome a tricky Mabanga Boys side at Levy.
Zesco United will be without winger Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba who was red carded in midweek while Kelvin Kapumbu is a doubt due to injury.
Kenyan striker Jesse Jackson Were will return to Ndola to face his former team.
POWER Dynamos vs Buildcon
Buildcon’s search for a first win of the season has continued as this weekend they head to Arthur Davies Stadium to face Power Dynamos.
Team Kopala are currently bottom of the log table with a point to their name and have lost their last five straight games.
But they face a Power Dynamos side that has very high morale following their comeback win over Kabwe Warriors at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium.
Kennedy Musonda will be looking to continue his brilliant performances for Abayellow upfront as they face arguably the most porous team in the league at the moment.
Green Eagles vs Zanaco
Choma will this weekend host a battle of two rejuvenated sides as the Kawale Boys welcome the Bankers.
Green Eagles thrashed Buildcon 3-0 away in Choma giving interim boss Alex Namazaba his first win.
Meanwhile the Bankers, Sensational Zanaco finally managed their first win at home this season as they edged Lumwana Radiants 1-0.
