Mbombo left behind from Zesco team to play Smuoha in Egypt

Under-fire Zesco United coach Zlatko Kromptic has ‘dropped’ Idriss Mbombo from the squad that will travel to Egypt for the CAF Confederations Cup match against Smouha.

Zesco United released an 18 man squad that will travel to Alexandria tomorrow (Tuesday) and they welcomed back Jesse Were, Anthony Agay and Kondwani Mtonga who all missed the trip to Angola where they lost 3 – 0 to Libolo.

However there was no place for Dauti Musekwa and Mbombo who also missed the weekend match in the local league.

A statement from the club explained that Musekwa was out of the team owing to suspension after he accumulated two yellow cards in the competition but there was no mention of Mbombo.

While there are reports that he has signed for a club in the Middle East, Mbombo told the ZamFoot Crew on Monday evening that he was only out of the team because he is unwell.

The striker has found himself in a difficulty position with the fans and his less than convincing form in front of goal has not helped his cause. The fans have been calling for his exit as well as that of the coach.

The game will be played on Friday, 30th June, 2017 at Borg el Arab Stadium in Alexandria at 18∶00hours local (18 hours Zambian Time)
