Zimbabwe national team defender Alec Mudimu is optimistic about the team’s high spirit in the camp and believes the team is capable of producing a good result against Zambia on Tuesday at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
The two teams are about to renew their friendly rivalry in the second fixture of Cameroon 2021 Africa cup of Nations Group H Qualifier match.
“We know its high tempo match, The boys regrouped quite quickly and you know we believe in each other as it would be understandable. We are not going to shy away from the game tomorrow and we are more than excited to get going and play, you know its something the players wanna prove to the coaches and not only to themselves and you know we are more than capable of stepping up to the ladder and producing in such good occasions,” he said.
The defender is disappointed with their 2021 Africa cup of Nations qualifier opening fixture against the Zebras of Botswana were they played out to a goalless draw at home despite dominating the entire game. He is confident that they will bounce back from the draw on Tuesday as the team is more than prepared for the battle of the ‘Zambezi river’
“Of course it’s a disappointing way in saying that because it came out as a draw and we dominated the game for so long and with so much possession and it feels more of a loss sometimes but you know the players that have been brought in are more than professional. We’ve rectified the mistakes and we know what we need to do about the game on Tuesday,” he said.
“You know the players and the coaches as well are more than prepared about bouncing back from that draw and we can pick up so many positives from that game you know the players are confident.”
The Chipolopolo boys will be going into tomorrow’s encounter after a huge humiliation they suffered from the Desert Foxes of Algeria via a 5-0 scoreline on Friday night in Blida.
Zambia will be hosting Zimbabwe tomorrow Tuesday the 19th November at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka at 18:00hrs.
