Zesco United Women’s Football Club emerged as winners in yesterday’s Four-team Mini Tournament hosted by Nkana Women’s Football Club played at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Zegalicious were a team on fire as they picked up maximum points in their first two matches edging Kitwe Girls Academy 3-1 and went on to silence Nkana Queens 2-0 before battling to a Goalless draw with Runners-up Indeni Roses in their last match to take their tally of points to 7 from the 3 matches played.
Runners-up Indeni Roses started on a higher note beating the host Nkana Queens 1-nil before they were held to a surprise scoreless draw by Girls Kitwe Academy and went on to record a similar scoreline against eventual winners Zesco Girls which took their points to 4 from 3 games as they finished second on the log standings.
Nkana Queens who were the host finished third with only 3 points which they recorded at the expense of Kitwe Girls as they edged them by a goal to nil courtesy of Chanda Katebe. The Coach Sarah Daka drilled side suffered two defeats at the hands of Indeni and Zesco losing 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Kitwe Girls picked up only a single point which was a surprise nil-nil draw against Indeni and was rocked bottom having lost the other two games going down 3-1 to Zesco and 1-nil to Nkana.
