Zesco United have released former Chipolopolo Boys winger Clifford Mulenga after a short spell at the club.
In a media statement, the Ndola side said Mulenga’s contract wasn’t extended and has since returned to South Africa.
The left footed winger made his Zambia debut in 2005 together with Rainford Kalaba. While Kalaba has had a successful career, Clifford has failed to fulfil his potential.
Despite winning the 2007 CAF Young Player of the Year, the former Chiparamba product failed to nail down a permanent place at the national team.
While he has been to the 2010 and 2012 AFCONs as a squad player, many believe he could have had an impact at the 2006 edition but suffered an injury on the eve of the tournament.
Club football has seen have an unsuccessful stint at Swedish side Ogryte and also South African sides Supersport, Tuks and Ajax Cape Town.
Meanwhile striker Jonas Sakuwaha has returned to TP Mazembe after an unsuccessful spell at Zesco United after a one season loan.
Justine Zulu’s ban has been extended to 6 month.
Sad for Clifford..its a sad story..
It is not sad story, but worrying journey. Such a smart guy.
The best market for Clifford is far-east, Thailand, Indonesia somewhere there. Not comparing to Chivuta (who is playful but disciplined), Clifford need places where people practice meditation/ Yoga, stuff like that. He needs deliverance, clean all those tattoos etc.
Clifford & Felix????? Chilankalipa, I wish they were my cousins, I could have helped them grow.
Which team is he going to play for in South Africa? Too bad for him
He is a naturalized south africa; I think he will find a club in the January transfer period. If not in the PSL maybe NFD.
What is going to do in SA? Why has Justin Zulu’s discipline been extended by six more years. Please give us complete infor
Sorry months not years
The Kalengo signing is the worst ever but understandable.
What do you know about that team. Do you know how rich Congo Brazzaville is in oil? Kalengo made a perfect move…
am a Ghanaian but I feel sad when our promising talents in Africa are unable to reach their potential. He could have been one of the greatest players on the continent
I remember u from GSN
in other news fc mets coach ws sacked ealy this week.lets see if mayuka wil b playing wth the new coach in place
Too bad for Clifford it seems the guy is finished. But he would have stayed in Zambia and join another team where he can have game time.
It was going to be better if he went on & joined Nchanga Rangers.
This guy reminds me of Emmanuel Zulu and so much wasted talent. In fact that is why I respect Kalusha Bwalya and look at how long his soccer career lasted .Clifford Mulenga as well as Emmanuel Zulu were talented but too much beer drinking and Mbesuma has redeemed himself and no wonder he is on top of his game now.
I gree with you Alexander another emmanuel zulu indeed.what a waste talent, you can be talented but if you are not displine you can’t go anywere.otherwise not all is lost he is still young he can pick himself up.
I remember this guy when zambia was playing against senegal he tormented the senegal defence led by colly that rastaman I think he was a marvell to watch.he play like kalusha bwalya.
Stupid boy to say the least.
The best he could do is to remain in Zambia and join another Zambian team for him to rediscover his carrier.
Too bad for Cliford surely. He needs more composure.
He should ask God to help him.
You are now seeing what renard used to see in clifford. Renard used to be criticised over clifford, and yet no one could notice how the guy used to change clubs in short space of time. Sad story anyway.
