log leaders Napsa Stars’ stay at the top of the log may soon come to an end as Zanaco and Zesco United are slowly closing in. Zanaco are now 7th on the log after beating City of Lusaka 3-1 at the refurbished Vodafone Woodlands Stadium this afternoon in a rescheduled fixture.
Ernest Mbewe opened the scoring in the 25th minute to take the lead for the bankers. Defensive kingpin George Chilufya doubled the lead 12 minutes later. Enock Jere reduced the deficit in the 66th minute but Augustine Mulenga restored the lead in the 84th minute and Zanaco held on to hand City ya Moto their 13th loss of the season.
Sensational Zanaco, who are the defending league champions have now accumulated 30 points with 5 less games played than log leaders Napsa Stars who are on 37 points.
Zesco United have now moved to second place on the log with 35 points after a one nil win over Lumwana Radiants away in North Western. Maybin Kalengo headed in the only goal of the game in the 90th minute. Zesco have played 3 games less than Napsa Stars.
The other game on the day was between Green Buffaloes and Buildcon. Team Kopala came from behind to take three valuable points away in Lusaka.
Green Buffaloes took the lead through Friday Samu in the 32nd minute. former Nkana midfielder Fidel Bosadja equalised in the 47th minute before Kenyan export John Mark Makwatta could win it for Buildcon in the 74th minute with a volley.
Buildcon have now moved to 9th on the log with 29 points.
