Zesco United youngster on the verge of realizing two dreans

Zesco United young midfielder Samuel Sikaonga knows what it takes to break through the ranks of one of the best teams in the land currently.

The20-year-old joined ZESCO United U-19 Youth team in 2015 and was promoted to the senior side last year alongside Enock Sakala Jnr. Sikaonga told the club’s official website that he is learning a lot from the senior players at Zesco United.

The midfielder says playing for Zesco United has always been his dream and that it has come true he wants to work even harder.

“I joined Zambezi Portland in 2017. It was an important move for me because I got very good exposure and game time. My time there was special because we won promotion from division three to division two,” he said.

“It is a great achievement to move from the youth team to the main team. I am motivated because this has always been my dream and now that it has come true, I have to work hard.”

“This is a team full of many experienced players. As such it’s important for me to remain disciplined and work extra hard if I am to break in the main team and become successful. I am currently learning a lot from the senior players.”

Sikaonga grew up idolizing Zesco United veteran midfielder Kondwani Mtonga and he is very excited at the prospect of one day partnering him in the middle of the park for Zega Mambo.

“Growing up for me as a player I looked up to Kondwani Mtonga. He has and continues to be my role model in the game. I am greatly excited that we are now teammates and I can’t wait for the opportunity to play alongside him. It is a dream come true,” he said.

At just 20, Sikaonga is staring at the prospect of achieving his dream of playing for his boyhood favorite team and an opportunity to play alongside his role model, Kondwani Mtonga.
