Zesco United monopolizing the Super League

Zesco United have managed to win their opening games of the season, Currently lead the log with a four-point advantage and despite it being early days, they look like a team that will go all the way.

Fans of Nkana, Power dynamos, Zanaco and Green Eagles might feel otherwise but the honest truth is that Zecso United have no challengers in the league at the moment. Even when they are not at their best like during the transitional league, They will find a way to win the league that’s how well they have managed to monopolize the league.

The Kitwe teams, Power dynamos, and Nkana who should be challenging Zesco United for the league have a lot of issues giving Zesco United a freeway. At Nkana Stadium, The Coach Beston Chambeshi is not wanted despite the Executive Committee trying, by all means, to cover up that fact.

They are willing to let Chambeshi be with the U23 national for over a month as a way of helping the nation as he prepares his team for the U23 AFCON tournament. The ZamFoot Crew, however, understands that a shortlist of successors is already in place with Ghanaian CK Okonnor, Simba SC coach Patrick Aussems and Perry Mutapa being among the front runners to take over at Chilata.

Across the road in Ndeke, The problems at Arthur Davies Stadium run deeper than most people think. The players are simply not good enough, Veteran Fordson Kabole cited this fact as a reason for his departure.

They finally managed to record a win under Guston Mutobo on Wednesday as they beat 10 men Forest Rangers 1-0 but the performance was far from convincing and certainly not yet at a point to challenge Zesco United.

Buildcon and Lusaka dynamos have also been so inconsistent that they no longer look like teams that can stake a claim to Zesco United’s thrown. Lusaka dynamos were so impressive on the pitch during the transitional league season and were suppose to finish above Zesco United instream A but then the Fifa Disciplinary Committee sanctioned them with a deduction of three points on the league standings for failure to honor contractual obligations towards Ghanaian player Abdul Latif Mohammed.

Dynamos were docked another three points after failing to comply with a FIFA directive to settle all dues owed to Ghanaian Sheriff Deen. The Deen verdict came barely two months after the case of his compatriot, Abdul Latif Mohammed. These are mistakes that date back as far as 2017 but still affected the team two years later.

Buildcon on the other hand lack stability as they have changed four coaches (Arena Gulgleimo, Tenant Chembo, Srdjan Zivojnov and now Ivan Srpsko ). The players have also not been together for a long time as they have almost complete squad from the one they had in 2017.

Sensational Zanaco and Green Eagles are the only two teams who seem to have a small chance of dethroning Zesco United but even they have a long way to go before they reach the current status of Zesco United.
