ZESCO United, Green Eagles record wins to put Pressure on Arrows…Kafue Celtic, Nkwazi suffer defeat

ZESCO United has returned to winning ways following a hard-fought 2-1 win over Nkana in an entertaining MTN Super League week 24 encounter played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Action from week 24 continued on Saturday afternoon with six matches taking centre stage around the country.

ZESCO United 2-1 Nkana

Nkana made a short trip to Ndola for a tricky affair against defending Champions, ZESCO United.

The match started on a high note with both teams eager to get on the score sheet.

It was however, ZESCO United who opened the scores just after 21 minutes with a close range finish to put the hosts in the lead.

Nkana however leveled matters just two minutes later as David Obashi converted from the penalty spot.

John Ching’andu put Zega Mambo back in the lead seven minutes into the second stanza which proved to be the winner.

The win takes ZESCO United to 41 points in third place while Nkana drop to sixth place.

Vincent Oburu was voted as the player of the match for his goal and assisting John Ching’andu’s goal.

Kabwe Warriors 1-2 Green Eagles

Green Eagles has maintained second place following a 2-1 win over the Magnificent People’s team, Kabwe Warriors.

Defender Collins Mulenga put the visitors in the lead after six minutes. Dominic Chanda leveled matters in the 38th minute.

Former Zanaco winger Enerst Mbewe scored the winner in the 55th minute to seal a well deserved 2-1 win for the Kawale Boys.

Kansanshi Dynamos 3-2 Kafue Celtic

In Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos won their third straight match after they beat Youthful Kafue Celtic.

Jesse Jackson Were scored his fourth goal for Kansanshi Dynamos with Bruce Musakanya and Timothy Sakala netting a goal each.

Albert Kangwanda netted a beauty of a goal with Maxwell Mulutula netting another for the Crocs to give the match an entertaining ending.

The win takes the Mabanga Boys to 12th place with 31 points from 24 games.

Nkwazi 0-1 Buildcon

Buildcon made it two wins in a role as they edged Nkwazi 1-0 away in Lusaka.

Lubinda Mundia scored the only goal of the game in the second half. The win takes Team Kopala to fifth place with 38 points.

Indeni 1-2 Green Buffaloes

Green Buffaloes have continued their rejuvenation thanks to a 2-1 win over the Oilo Men, Indeni.

A Martin Njobvu goal and a Kayawe Kapota penalty gave the Zambia army sponsored outfit a 2-1 win.

Midfielder Clement Mulenga scored Indeni’s consolation goal but it was too little to change the outcome.

Chambishi 0-1 Konkola Blades

Tapson Kaseba scored the only goal of the game as Konkola Blades edged Chambishi.

Both teams remain stuck in the relegation zone.
