ZESCO Ndola Girls have a chance to take part in new created  FIFA Women’s Champions Cup

Eden University Women’s Super League defending Champions, ZESCO Ndola Girls have a chance to qualify for the newly introduced FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. 

The Zambian Champions will however have to win the CAF Women’s Champions League| COSAFA Qualifiers which kick off later this week to book a place at the Champions League proper then win it to seal their spot in the global showpiece. 

The best women’s club from each confederation will compete for a new trophy later this year. 

Arsenal, Wuhan Jiangda, Auckland United and Gotham FC have already qualified

Background

In March 2025, the FIFA Council approved the creation of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™, which will bring together the six continental club champions from the full season preceding the tournament to compete for a coveted new trophy. 

The first edition of the competition will be played in 2026.

When and where is the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026?

Dates

Round 1 of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026 will be played in October 2025, and Round 2 in December 2025 to determine the last Semi-Final slot.

The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026 Semi-Finals, Third-Place Match and Final will take place in a centralised location from 28 January to 1 February 2026.

Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium in Wuhan, China, will host Round 1. The venues for Round 2 and for the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026 Semi-Finals, Third-Place Match and Final will be announced at a later stage.

Participating clubs at the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026

The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will bring together the six continental club champions from the full season preceding the tournament to compete for the title. It will be held every non-FIFA Women’s Club World Cup™ year.

FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026 fixtures

The first stage of the 2026 competition will feature two knockout rounds. The AFC champions (Wuhan Jiangda) will host the OFC champions (Auckland United FC) in Round 1, with the winners visiting the CAF champions in Round 2. 

The Round 2 winners will progress to a final phase to be played at a neutral venue.

The Round 2 winners will meet the UEFA champions (Arsenal), while the Concacaf champions (Gotham FC) will face the CONMEBOL champions. The winners of the semi-finals will contest the final, with the runners-up competing for third place.
